Schick Hydro-Escape

Step inside to help Hydrobot and the Transformers.

At San Diego Comic-Con, where competition for attention is fierce we went above and beyond to engage with the convention's audience. Known for their love of puzzles and immersive experiences, we designed a custom “Escape the Room” based on fan-favorite characters expanding on the existing story of Schick’s Hydrobot.

Tailored for teams of six to eight, attendees entered the tech-integrated shipping container, where they were tasked with uncovering hidden clues, solving magnetic puzzles, and navigating complex lighting and computer programming elements—all while working together to escape in a race against time. The experience was not just about the puzzles, but about fostering teamwork and collaboration, which perfectly resonated with the social and interactive spirit of Comic-Con.

With over 200,000 attendees and more than 600 million media impressions generated over the activation weekend, the escape room became a buzz-worthy highlight of the convention. By incorporating technology-driven elements and a hands-on, immersive environment, we created an unforgettable experience that left a lasting impact on visitors and helped the brand cut through the noise of the bustling event.

“The “Schick Hydro Escape” is based on Hydrobot’s backstory, which was released in a new, limited-edition digital and animated comic book. To escape the room, Con-goers must work together on a series of interactive puzzles and physical tasks, many of which pay homage to fan-favorite movies, comic books and video games." - Biz Journal 2017
